Our team
Twelve subgroups, one car
The team consists of twelve specialized subgroups and one project leader, each with a clear role in delivering a safe, competitive, and innovative Formula Student car.
How we work
Cross-functional collaboration is at the heart of every build season. Subgroups share design reviews, integrate systems early, and test together to uncover issues before competitions. Whether you are drawn to hardware, software, people, or partnerships, there is a place to contribute and grow.
With guidance from the project leader and management group, each subgroup has clear ownership while remaining tightly connected to the rest of the team.
Where you might fit
- Engineering the car’s performance, structure, or electronics.
- Building digital tools, brand storytelling, or sponsor relations.
- Guiding people, processes, testing, and production timelines.
Teams
Subgroup overview
Each subgroup owns a focused area while collaborating across the car to hit design, manufacturing, and testing milestones.
Aerodynamics
Designs, manufactures, and optimizes the aerodynamic package — carbon fiber panels, front and rear wings, side aero, and diffuser — using CFD validation before production.
Chassis
Leads the chassis design and build. Recent cars use a steel frame while the team develops a half monocoque with a tubular steel rear frame to anchor every other system.
Driverless
Develops software, hardware, and future mechanical interfaces to compete in the driverless class, focusing on sensing, control, and reliability.
Electronics
Handles the full electric system — from PCB and wiring design to software that keeps the car safe and fast — and packages components within the car.
Human Resources
Supports recruitment, leadership, and team wellbeing through documentation, training, conflict management guidance, and a growing leadership handbook.
Internal Systems
Builds and maintains web-based tools and software that streamline internal processes and simplify workflows for the rest of the team.
Marketing
Shapes our external presence through social media, events, recruitment materials, and the visual identity of the association.
Packaging
Designs mounts, casings, and cooling for electrical parts. Combines design and simulation expertise to protect components and manage heat.
Production
Keeps manufacturing on schedule, coordinates with the workshop, and manages fasteners, tools, and build-phase documentation.
Sponsorship
Maintains partner relationships, agreements, and communication — including the newsletter — to secure resources for each build season.
Test Team
Prepares and executes vehicle testing before competitions and manages the garage where the car is built, maintained, and refined.
Vehicle Dynamics
Owns steering, suspension, brakes, pedal box, and anti-roll systems while tuning handling in close collaboration with the chassis and aero teams.
